The Alabama Society for Health Care Social Workers (ASHCSW) is a professional organization which provides an important medium for the interchange of ideas and growth of social work practice in health care institutions.  The Society, in affiliation with the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA), challenges all medical social workers to be actively involved in preserving the dignity of the total patient.

ASHCSW is committed to the upgrading of the Social Work profession by means of state licensure and regulation. One of the major goals of ASHCSW is to encourage the employment of qualified persons for social work positions within hospitals and related health care institutions.

Invitation for Membership

The Alabama Society for Health Care Social Workers invites you to become a member of our organization. You are eligible for membership if you are employed as a licensed Social Worker in a health care setting (hospital, nursing home, home health agency, dialysis center, public health department, physician’s office, etc.). The Society year begins in January. Renewal notices are due by January 1 in order for your name to remain on the membership roster. Application dues will continue to be accepted throughout the year to promote membership growth.

Membership Eligibility and Dues

Full Membership ($50.00):  Individuals who have primary responsibility for the provision or management of direct social services in a health care setting, or individuals with a BSW or MSW who are social work consultants in a health care setting.

Corporate ($40.00):  Full membership when five or more social workers from the same corporation join as members.

Associate Membership ($35.00):  Individuals with either a BSW or MSW who teach in a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

Affiliated/Retired Membership ($35.00):  Individuals who are students in a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education; or individuals who qualify for inactive membership status.
